        We started a good topic
        but moved into the mainstream:
        - Redraw admin
        it is simple and there is such a thing as a template, ie the subject does not contribute to the development of

        - To include other databases
        Why? If you have a big project you can do on the revolution

        But the issue of translation in the admin panel is completely zhkery and the introduction of additions and corrections
        have made in the community would be very good.

          And all I am seeing from the core team is "kill Evo because it's sucking our baby's breath". In other words, you want those of us who prefer working with Evo to forget about it and go do what you want us to do. I'm sorry, but I spent the first 45 year of my life doing what some guy wanted me to do... father, husband, business partner, whatever. I'm just not going to do that any more. I wanted to play around with the "hobby" computers in the late 1960's but my father was of the opinion that the idea of a "personal computer" would never be of any use, and it wasn't something girls did anyway. You like Revo and its can of worms - no, bucket of snakes coding style, I prefer Evo because I can see what I'm doing. I suppose eventually I could learn the ins and outs of Revo's classes and what-have-you, as well as Smarty and extJs, (after all, I did submit a feature fix for adding a New Category button to the Tree toolbar just a couple of weeks ago) but I don't want to. I have learned over a long and eventful life to be a firm believer in the KISS principle. Anway, I'm not going to say any more along these lines; everybody has been well-aware of my opinions ever the decision was made to not re-work Evo's core but build a whole new application.

              That was coming as close to flaming that I've ever come, but I am beginning to get a little annoyed at the pressure being applied. This is beginning to have eerie echos of the old Etomite days. I wonder if "Evo" and "Evolution" will end up being banned words on the MODx forums?

                I fully agree with Susan on this - the core team have (when asked) always said that Evo will be supported for a long time to come.

                I get the opposite impression - after about a year, and only because a security risk was found did the core team do any work on Evo.

                I started a thread in the old forum ages ago asking what was happening with Evo, and a thread about what do you prefer - Evo or Revo.

                The relation between Evo or Revo was positive to Evo, due to the amount of quirks and non end-user friendly structure in Revo

                Revo in my opinion is still a programmers system - your normal Joe Bloggs can't realistically do anything without permanent assistance from someone who knows what they are doing.

                In my opinion, some mods to Evo to improve its caching system and Bobs your uncle.

                I use Evo as a CMS, whereby an ID is a page, with two sites having well over 2000 pages - no problems whatsoever and with the use of the MODx API I use DB info in over 15000 pages.

                My Conclusion.


                I think the core team should think their plans for Evo through once more.

                They should find out what the end-user thinks and wants, possibly via a Poll

                Without the end-user MODx is nothing, so ask them what they want [ed. note: iusemodx last edited this post 14 years, 5 months ago.]

                  This is a list of things that, if fixed, could convince me to move to Revolution:
                  Back End speed
                  Front End speed
                  Portable & Easy to configure
                  Stable

                  I know that skilled developers can get it work properly, but unfortunately I am not. Evolution works well for me, I have more than 60 websites online and I have never had a problem.

                    Just want to say that I have been watching this thread with interest since I have have been reconsidering my choice of revo largely because as I watch the 'ftp queued files' list count down from over 4000 and wait for rather large upload to finish and get ready for the recently too frequent troubleshooting of why something is no longer working, I get to thinking that revo is just become too big/complex (maybe it always was) and I like simpler things to build more complex things with rather than (you know the nutcracker v. the sledge hammer to crack a nut meme).

                    But I do like MODX so maybe I should give evo a go - just have get over typing [[ and so on.
                    Also trying FuelCMS, and even considering rolling my own (silly idea I know - especially since I've been down that road before)

                      About multi language websites, is there any useful funcionality that can be added, or we keep using something like YAMS?

                      Usually I follow this tutorial "http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Make_Multi_Lingual_Site", but when the website is big it becomes a challenge to translate the text in the templates and chunks in another language.
