read $config_options from within plugins

I use a plugin which comes with systems settings I can alter in the system settings section. However, I want to the plugin to read it's configuration from the config.inc.php by adding it to the $config_options array. How can I access this setting from within the plugin?

The $config_options simply seed the config before any of the MODX settings are loaded over them. Once a System, Context, or User Setting is loaded with the same key as a config_options value, it is overridden and no longer accessible. If you want to respect the values set in the config_options, you will need to make sure there is not a Setting of the same key.
