    Hi everyone!

I’ve searched these forums for a solution to a couple of ideas I’ve had but unfortunately not found quite what I needed.

I’m more of a visual person, so I find this hard to describe - I’d like to have a feature on a webpage where a user can input a conclusion to a sentence, for example "Adam Wintle should:" then the user has a text filed where they could enter anything they like, such as "travel the world", "make everybody lunch", or "get a real job" - once they’ve submitted their conclusion it then pends a moderator to accept it, if accepted it’ll appear on the site - when more are added they just create a list.

From what I’ve found it looks like Jot would perhaps be the best solution, maybe adjusting the Comments Template, but then how would I just make the text filed and submit button?

This idea was inspired by the Status Update feature on Facebook and websites like Twitter.

    ------------------

The second is more of a problem, I’ve noticed on the server Snippets such as Jot have a couple of default templates for things such as:

    • chunk.comment.inc.html
    • chunk.form.inc.html
    • chunk.moderate.inc.html
When I want to create a new Jot template I’d copy-paste the contents of one of these into a new Chunk, make my adjustments then save it and assign it to a Jot call: &tplComments=`tplJotPrimaryComments`

Is it possible to save new template, for example called "chunk.primary-comment.inc.html" on the server and then call use that in your Jot call? - The main reason I’d like to store a few templates on the server is so I can use a desktop editor to directly load and edit them, as when they’re saved in the database with the other chunks I can’t seem to load them into an editor outside of MODx

    ------------------

I hope this makes sense and someone has some solutions?

I think it would be easier to use eForm with eform2db or a customized ppp. Then you can layout your text and input fields however you like.

I think I might just use Jot for this also, since it’d probably be a pretty quick job that way. You can just edit the default Jot template files if you like, as long as you don’t need those default files for some other pages. And yes you could use eForm as well, but Jot already has all the moderation and anti-spam features built in, so you wouldn’t need to reinvent the wheel.
