    Hello,

    seems like I'm the only person in the internet with this problem.

    In the documentation of the articles module it says:

    RSS Alias (Permalink) - The alias (permalink) for the RSS feed, appended to the blog URL. Can be a comma-separated list. For example, if you set this to "rssfeed.rss", your blog at mysite.com/blog/rssfeed.rss would show the RSS feed.

    I am using »feed.rss« in this field (second screenshot), however calling blog/feed.rss always takes me to the blog itself.
    Attached you'll find as the screenshot the view of my FURL settings (in case sth might be the cause there)

    I have tried appending .rss, removing the .rss-suffix from the content types, but it always falls back to the blog's article container template. I can't even get close to showing the XML-RSS-version of the feed.

    What am I doing wrong? Or did I just leave out a very essential step here?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Try putting in /feed.rss or /rssfeed.rss (note the slash!), my blog has the URL blog.html and the standard setting gave me "blog.htmlfeed.rss" without a / in between.

        Hi Marcel! From the little bit of poking around I have tried with this feature in Articles, I have not been able to successfully create an RSS Feed directly. I am not sure it is broken or if there is additional steps left out of the documentation. Has anyone been able to get this to work in Articles?

        I misunderstood what was necessary to add an RSS Feed page and built one from using Getresources. http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/getResources.Building+a+RSS+feed My understanding is that these should be separate functions that work on their own and are not interdependent.

        So with further reading I am similarly baffled on how this function in Articles should work. And without the created page from Getresources, trying to use articles provides the same results that you are getting. Just heads back to the homepage or blog page with the Url reflecting correctly. I have been working with http://feedvalidator.org/ to find that the Feed page doesn't seem to exist.

        Hopefully someone who has managed to get this function to work can enlighten us.

        Cheers!

          Thanks for your feedback guys.

          For some reason it has not been working on my localhost environment,
          but when I call the URL.../blog/feed.rss on my testing server I do now receive the entire XML tree of the feed.

          The permalink field in the blog settings simply says: feed.rss

          I'm afraid I cannot really figure out what has changed in comparison to my other setup (where it failed),
          but it seems that the article module itself is OK, and some other settings inside modx interfere with it.

            The Problem was the internal matching of the feed URL against the current request URL, which happens in /core/components/articles/articlescontainer.class.php in line 230:

                /**
                 * Check to see if the request is asking for an RSS feed
                 * @return boolean
                 */
                public function isRss() {
                    $isRss = false;
                    $settings = $this->getContainerSettings();
                    $feedAppendage = $this->xpdo->getOption('rssAlias',$settings,'feed.rss,rss');
                    $feedAppendage = explode(',',$feedAppendage);
                    $fullUri = $this->xpdo->context->getOption('base_url',null,MODX_BASE_URL).$this->get('uri');

                    if (strpos($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$fullUri) === 0 && strlen($fullUri) != strlen($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'])) {
                        $appendage = rtrim(str_replace($fullUri,'',$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']),'/');
                        if (in_array($appendage,$feedAppendage)) {
                            $isRss = true;
                        }
                    }
                    return $isRss;
                }

            In my case I had to change the base_url in the context settings from http://www.example.com/de/ to only /de/ because otherwise the RSS feed URL which was /de/blog/feed.rss would never match.

              I found that the rss feed is available under this link www.website.com/blogname/rss when using the default install of articles
