    Howdy,

I’m a front-end designer who’s started dabbling in the backend. I’ve just installed MODxCMS for the 1st time and have a couple of questions. I’m sure the answers are probably pretty simple, but they ellude me at the moment.

    1) How do I change the Site Title of my site? When I installed MODx, I used "My MODx Site" (as the tutorial suggested) but now I’d like to change that to the actual name of the site. I found this tutorial (http://www.modxhost.com/index.php?q=6.html) but I’m missing something because when I log into the MODx Manager, I don’t have a "Administration" section in the top nav menu.

    2) How do I set the template that I made as the default template? At this point, I want all pages that my client might create to use the template that I designed.

I apologize if these are annoying noob questions. If the answers can be found somewhere, just point me that direction and I’ll be out of your hair.

    Much Thanks,

    - Leif

Welcome aboard! That’s a bit of an outdated tutorial that should be updated. I apologize for the confusion.

In the 096 manager, use the Tools > Configuration menu to tweak the settings.

I hope you find MODx as liberating for designers as I know it can be ... it can output EXACTLY what you tell it to and how you tell it to do it. MODx is also a great platform for learning how to hack PHP here and there. Best of luck! smiley

Ahhh... thank you. That worked perfectly.

So far, I’m LOVING this MODx thing. As you said, it ouputs exactly what I want it to (standard-compliant, semantic mark-up.)

        Color me happy!

The only value I found in my kid’s computer games ’way back when was that to begin with, you had to type in the commands (pick up rock, throw rock, etc) and all three of my boys became quite competent typists, if not up to my trained speed. Then the mouse became a standard part of the PC, and you clicked on things. From this we all learned to ...well, click on things. So now it’s just a habit, whenever I have anything new to look at, I click on everything to see what happens, especially menus! So take a little time, and browse through the Manager’s menus and see what everything does.
