Haven’t come across this in MODx nor have I messed around much with users and groups, so this could be a RTF manual moment.
But is there any document or assest tracking that would record/email the admin when a user edits a published document?
In the manager, go to top menu Reports/Manager Actions to see what was done by whom

would be great if you could schedule different reports as an email or archived logs.
Alot of times, best way is to just click around and see whats what.... its pretty easy to fix something if you inadvertantly break it
