Answered Unexpected digits in source code on 404 pages (pages that does not exist)

Is there something that you always use, some kind of social networking links or statistics application that might be behaving in an unexpected manner if they get a 404 response?

Already tried to disconnect all of them (statistics) - still inserts

for example - a new site, which does not use anything, only "[[*content]]"

You said, If I understand correctly, that this happens on different hosts? Obviously different templates, different sites. But it has to be coming from somewhere, and MODx isn't doing it (I've run tests on some remote sites I control).

It looks very much like some kind of hex codes. Could it possibly be from uploaded files with a UTF-8 BOM string?

Do you by any chance use Dreamweaver? It's notorious for mishandling the BOM.

Well, I have no further ideas on the subject. Hopefully someone else will come up with something.
