    Hi,

I have a site www.shaysamia.com. The domain does not need to change since I am using ajax request to open my gallery.

I have another page, which I want to use a sub-domain to open that page. My url is: www.shaysamia.com/family.html.
How can i point a sub-domain to open this resource page?

    This is my current htaccess:
    # The Friendly URLs part
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    #
    # all pages of website
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
    #

Using the following would allow you to specify the Resource ID of the "family.html" page so that if you change the friendly URL settings it would still pull that page content. Place above the traditional friendly url portion in the (dot)htaccess file.

Note: Change the value "sub" to your sub-domain name. Then in the second line change "5" to the resource id of the family page.

      RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sub\.shaysamia\.com$ [NC]
      RewriteRule ^(.*)$ www.shaysamia.com/index.php?id=5 [R=301,L]

      Cheers

        Hi charles,

        thanks for the reply.

        this is what i did:
#using sub-domain to open a specific resource file
        RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^family\.shaysamia\.com$ [NC]
        RewriteRule ^(.*)$ www.shaysamia.com/index.php?id=7 [R=301,L]

        # The Friendly URLs part
        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

        # all pages of website
        RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

        # used for the current portfolio: example: http://www.shaysamia.com/portfolio/conceptual/
        RewriteRule ^portfolio/([^/]+)/$ index.php?galAlbum=$1 [L,QSA]

        it is not working.

it goes to: www.shaysamia.com root url.

here is all my htaccess file:
        # MODX supports Friendly URLs via this .htaccess file. You must serve web
        # pages via Apache with mod_rewrite to use this functionality, and you must
        # change the file name from ht.access to .htaccess.
        #
        # Make sure RewriteBase points to the directory where you installed MODX.
        # E.g., "/modx" if your installation is in a "modx" subdirectory.
        #
        # You may choose to make your URLs non-case-sensitive by adding a NC directive
        # to your rule: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA,NC]

        RewriteEngine On
        RewriteBase /

        # DO NOT USE BOTH

            In these lines
#using sub-domain to open a specific resource file
            RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^family\.shaysamia\.com$ [NC]
            RewriteRule ^(.*)$ www.shaysamia.com/index.php?id=7 [R=301,L]

            Change:

            RewriteRule ^(.*)$ www.shaysamia.com/index.php?id=7 [R=301,L]

to this (note: had to add space between the "//" and "www" so that the auto link would not generate, so remove that extra space)

            RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http:// www.shaysamia.com/index.php?id=7 [R=301,L]
