Try changing mod_ to something else, for example: mydb_

Don´t know if that´s the problem, but

          mysql 3.23.58-4

It seems to be specific to the server setup at the hosting company. I saw similar issues with one host, with a ’clean’ database each time, yet the installer ran flawlessly on another host’s server. Retraced my steps with original host several times, looks OK from my end. Both are running a version of PHP4.

I’ve spent a few hours trying to install MODx 0.9.6 in a hosting environment where I have several other MODx installs going. Here’s the trouble:

              * there’s a problem with the installer, installing into MySQL 3.23.x (yes, it’s old but there are still ISPs out there using this database) - the table prefix check fails even on a blank database, no matter what the prefix is: blank or otherwise, containing underscore character or otherwise

              * I do have a MySQL 4.1.x database running on this host - on port 3305. Specifying "localhost:3305" or the path to the mysql socket in the MODx installer do not work. However, the mysql_connect command, which seems to be behind the installer, does allow for the host to be specified in such a way.

I’m stuck. I think I’m going to have to install 0.9.5 and upgrade, or copy another MODx database in, and upgrade. I think it would be a good idea to fix one or both of these issues.

              Thanks for listening.
