Is there a way that when creating a new resource, that resource is placed at the TOP rather than bottom of the parent resource in the resource tree? It would be easier for me, at least until I install articles (I'm putting it off for another month for a variety of reasons). Thanks!

*Untested*: try to go on "System > System settings", search for "context_tree_sortdir" and change ASC to DESC.

Since the tree order by default is based on the menuindex you could, as a workaround, manually give each resource a menuindex in descending order (say, starting at 999). But of course it's cumbersome.
In System Settings, area Back-end Manager, you can change the value of the key Resource Tree Default Sort Field to another field, if you want to let the menuindex untouched.
(It would be a nice feature, if you could set this value to "menuindex DESC", but that's not possible.)

        Edit: @microcipcip
The sort direction of the contexts will not affect the one of the resources.
There is missing a key like Sort direction of resources in tree ... [ed. note: ottogal last edited this post 14 years, 8 months ago.]

It's not an ideal solution, but you can drag them around in the tree.

You can create a plugin which would fire on OnBeforeDocFormSave, and alter menuindex any way needed.
