    Right now I have MODx installed into the site_root and I osCommerce installed into site_root/store.  However, when I try to access site_root/store/admin, I get directed to the error page by MODx.  The current .htaccess file in site_root/store/admin has the following code:

    # $Id: .htaccess,v 1.1 2003/06/20 00:18:30 hpdl Exp $
    #
    # This is used with Apache WebServers
    #
    # For this to work, you must include the parameter 'Options' to
    # the AllowOverride configuration
    #
    # Example:
    #
    # <Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs">
    #   AllowOverride Options
    # </Directory>
    #
    # 'All' with also work. (This configuration is in the
    # apache/conf/httpd.conf file)

    # The following makes adjustments to the SSL protocol for Internet
    # Explorer browsers

    <IfModule mod_setenvif.c>
      <IfDefine SSL>
        SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" \
                 nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \
                 downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0
      </IfDefine>
    </IfModule>

    # Fix certain PHP values

    #<IfModule mod_php4.c>
    #  php_value session.use_trans_sid 0
    #  php_value register_globals 1
    #</IfModule>

    AuthType Basic

    AuthName "osCommerce Admin"

    AuthUserFile "/home/blanked_out/.htpasswds/store/admin/passwd"

    require valid-user

    However, if I just make an .htaccess file in that directory with the following declaration, I can access the admin, but then no password is required to access it:

    RewriteEngine Off

    I have also noticed that all forms stopped working on the site. Login form, creating an account, adding products. I haven’t made any changes to the install at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      I have definitely pinned this down to the .htaccess file that gets installed with MODx. If I rename it back to ht.access, the osCommerce install works perfectly fine.

      Still would appreciate any help in figuring out how to get them to work together.

        Ok...one more update. I have pinned it down to a smaller portion of the .htaccess file. I uncommeted this section in the .htaccess file:

        #RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
        #RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.blueskyvineyard\.com [NC]
        #RewriteRule (.*) http://www.blueskyvineyard.com/$1 [R=301,L]

        And that seems to be causing the problem, because my osCommerce install works again when I keep those commented. Any ideas?

          I think that all you need is a one-line .htaccess file in site_root/store. It should only have RewriteEngine Off in it, which will cancel MODx’s rewrite rules for everything in the store subdirectory, and you should be back to normal in osCommerce (there is already a file identical to this in MODx’s manager folder, so you can just copy that file if you like). The osCommerce admin .htaccess file that you posted is necessary for user/password control of that directory, so you shouldn’t remove it.

            That seemed to bring it back. I was still having trouble accessing the admin, but I figured out a work-around for that. Thanks Zap! How are those ShopX installs going? Are you possibly interested in converting another shop over? If so, PM me.

              Working on another one right now (converting from a wacky old eCommerce program called tek9)...
