Hi - I changed the following under system settings:
    articles.default_article_template
    articles.default_container_template

After that, articles uses the container template for both individual articles and the container no matter what I change the settings to in either system settings or the template tab under articles. And I've cleared the cache about 100 times.

BTW - everything worked great until I made that system settings change. sad

    Anyone else get this problem.
    • Why did you do it that way? The Articles management page itself allows you to specify the templates to use. Changing the system settings will probably get overwritten when you upgrade the Articles package anyway, which is why it's recommended to make a copy of the original default templates rather than edit them directly.

        Hi Susan,

Actually, I'm not using the default templates. I made copies and changed them for my theme. So it's not the templates themselves.

I changed the system settings to point to my new templates as the default. And you are right - I wish I had not done that.

So based on your comment, I think I'll try setting the default in the system settings back to the original defaults and see if that makes a difference. Got nothing to lose since MODX articles will not let me change it anywhere at the moment.

Note to self (and anyone else):

That worked. I changed the system settings back to the installation default templates and then my real templates started working again.
