right, ive decided to learn about web design, now the correct way to do things would be to learn step-by-step slowly...but, i was once shown modx, and how it worked, so ive installed modx into some web space, and it worked first time (bare in mind this is my first time of using any ftp software). so its all installed and ok, well done guys, modx is user friendly grin . im nearly finished building my web site, im using dreamweaver 8, and have found it very easy to learn, and yes im using templates, im not brave lol. i know that i can save my site in html and/or PHP, im assuming PHP for modx. my question is, when i upload my site to my web space will modx just know what to do? or do i have tell modx what to do with the site, and maybe install a page at a time?

any advice is more then welcome, but please bare in mind i have 2 days experience in web stuff

MODx templates are nothing more than HTML with certain bits removed and replaced with codes like [*content*] (shockingly for the main content area). I’d check into the Designer’s Guide and other Documentation for more details on how to create templates. The wiki too.

Hi mate, you might find this tutorial helpful:

        http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Beginner%27s_Guide_to_MODx

It explains how to move an existing design (html) into the modx system.
