Hi everyone, I have to admit, that I am an etomite convert to modx and so here I am.
I’d like to share my recent discoveries and problems that I have had with my installation.
This is the most important code that I needed to add.
ini_set("session.save_handler", "files");
session_save_path ("/serverlocation/www/some/thing/dot.com.au/tmp");
I’m managing a site hosted on the servers of netregistry.com.au, which as described by on of their techies is:
NetRegistry’s server vary a little from
the usual hosting set up. This is because we are behind load balancers
with in a shared hosted infurstructure. This means that anyone of our 18
servers can server your website if one of the servers is busy and pass
it onto the next and so on.
The first problem was that globals are permanently ON, which I still haven’t fixed... but hopefully will get around to that soon.
But the major problem was the session problem. Their sessions are the opposite to what modx and etomite want. By default, the session.save_handler is set to "user".
There is more info here: http://www.netregistry.com.au/customer-service/support/scripting/PHP/php_sessions.php
These the files that needed modification and the session additions added.
You do this by adding that ‘important’ lines of code just before it says. Or, at the beginning of the file.
// start session
startCMSSession();
Change these files:
Standard files:
/index.php
/manager/index.php
/manager/processors/login.processor.php
Resource Browser:
/manager/media/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/config.php
For installing things: (including the first time too)
/install/index.php
(I think that was all of them)
This has been doing my head in for the last 3 days, but I finally solved the problem! Yippee!!!
Thought I’d share it with others.
It solves (for me), the problem with:
1. No files showing up in the resource browser.
2. The ‘Invalid XML response from connector’ error in IE
3. Session problems
Cheers,
Steve.
