User Groups - a question of use..

I’m developing my first site with MODx Awesome product!!

Anyhow, the website is designed as a place for students to register for classes. Each registrant would then become a ’member’ of the class and after logging in to their account, be able to go to the class to download and/or exchange documents with teachers and other classmates.

Does anybody think that the users/group functions would work well for this?

Additionally, are their any snippets out there that would (or could) generate new groups automatically (as my calendar/class admin does for generating new classes for display and registration on the site?

Any comments on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

This functionality does not currently exist, but you could implement such functionality in to MODx. The current permissions system provides a good starting point.
