    Hello everyone,
    I have an issue similar to this one:

    https://forums.modx.com/thread/73462/2-2-0-install-issue---blank-manager#dis-post-408189

    unfortunately, the steps that the modX support team provided in that case don't work for us.

    Our site history:
    had ModX 2.1.5 (~6000 pages)
    developed a CMP to manage product catalog
    upgraded to 2.2 and got manager errors like blank pages, no sidebar, cannot logout...
    uninstalled (restored 2.1.5 backup)
    upgraded packages
    cleaned unused packages, deleted them and everything under /core/cache/ via FTP
    reinstalled 2.2.0

    This made the manager show up without sidebar and got a plenty of errors like (from Chrome console):

    Resource interpreted as Other but transferred with MIME type undefined.
    Resource interpreted as Other but transferred with MIME type undefined.
    index.php:82 Uncaught ReferenceError: _ is not defined
    modx.tree.directory.js:609 Uncaught ReferenceError: _ is not defined
    index.php:1 Uncaught ReferenceError: _ is not defined
    modx.localization.js:5 Uncaught ReferenceError: _ is not defined
    utilities.js:17 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token [
    modx.js:778 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'id' of undefined
    modx.grid.user.recent.resource.js:12 Uncaught ReferenceError: _ is not defined

    Naturally, cleaning cache manually does not help in any way...

    Any clues about where to look?

      The first thing to try is turning off the compress_js and compress_css System Settings.

        These two things need to be set as 0 for the default settings.
        Not otherwise.

        They make more trouble than solution.

          I have exactly the same problem even with compress_js & _css off. Also the OP also turned this off before posting (because there is no "-min" suffix in his log)

          Maybe the OP can confirm this:
          Do you work in a sub-directory?

          Because I'm having issues with the path to the 2 JS files generated with PHP:

          Source of the manager:
          <script src="/site/manager/assets/modext/core/modx.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

          <script src="/connectors/lang.js.php?ctx=mgr&topic=topmenu,file,resource,welcome,configcheck&action=" type="text/javascript"></script>
          <script src="/connectors/layout/modx.config.js.php?action=&wctx=mgr" type="text/javascript"></script>

          Notice that the 2 files are missing the path "site/" while all other paths do have this prefix.

          In case you do have the same problem as mine, here is the fix:
          1) Open your config.inc.php
          2) Go to line 35 with the variable $modx_connectors_url
          3) Add the sub-direcoty as prefix

          $modx_connectors_url= '/connectors/';

          into
          $modx_connectors_url= '/site/connectors/';

            Thanks, but we run the site in the docroot and all paths are ok in the config.

                This didn't change anything. The problem seems to affect this file:
                /connectors/lang.js.php?ctx=mgr&topic=topmenu,file,resource,welcome,configcheck&action=

                which is always blank. I checked to see what's happening, and it seems that it's blank because of the following lines in /connectors/index.php (around line 35):

                if (defined('MODX_REQP') && MODX_REQP === false) {
                } else if (!$modx->context->checkPolicy('load')) {
                    @session_write_close();
                    die();
                }

                Any other suggestions? BTW, what does these line mean? BTW again, is it normal to have to dig so deep in code just to get to know what is going on, wouldn't it be better to have a nice, polite error message instead of a brutal, useless "die()"? No clues. There are plenty of these errors in MODx error log:

                    [2012-01-30 02:06:51] (ERROR @ /index.php) Error HY000 executing query: SELECT `modChunk`.`id` AS `modChunk_id`, `modChunk`.`source` AS `modChunk_source`, `modChunk`.`property_preprocess` AS `modChunk_property_preprocess`, `modChunk`.`name` AS `modChunk_name`, `modChunk`.`description` AS `modChunk_description`, `modChunk`.`editor_type` AS `modChunk_editor_type`, `modChunk`.`category` AS `modChunk_category`, `modChunk`.`cache_type` AS `modChunk_cache_type`, `modChunk`.`snippet` AS `modChunk_snippet`, `modChunk`.`locked` AS `modChunk_locked`, `modChunk`.`properties` AS `modChunk_properties`, `modChunk`.`static` AS `modChunk_static`, `modChunk`.`static_file` AS `modChunk_static_file`, `Source`.`id` AS `Source_id`, `Source`.`name` AS `Source_name`, `Source`.`description` AS `Source_description`, `Source`.`class_key` AS `Source_class_key`, `Source`.`properties` AS `Source_properties`, `Source`.`is_stream` AS `Source_is_stream` FROM `modx_site_htmlsnippets` AS `modChunk` LEFT JOIN `modx_media_sources` `Source` ON `modChunk`.`source` = `Source`.`id` WHERE `modChunk`.`name` = ?                     [1] => 2006
                    [2] => MySQL server has gone away
                    )

                    But none of them seem related to manager actions.

                      Actually those errors indicate an overloaded MySQL server that cannot return the queries needed to perform the manager actions.
