Help with Media Sources

Hi all,

I think I need some help with media sources now.
I don't really need media sources at all but in 2.2 I have to use it. Now after having ACL set up I have some problems:

- path in frontend is wrong (preview also doesn't work):
instead of returning: /assets/images/folder/img.jpg it returns folder/img.jpg. What am I missing? Media Source is set to relative paths pointing at assets/images/.

- file tree doesn't work anymore. I cannot open folders in file tree anymore. This is very important and I don't know what's wrong here.

Now, back to the topic.
Are you using TV for these images?
If so, you must set that media source for that TV.

I set the path & url as assets/[andMorePaths/] without prefix '/'.

About the ACL (#doh), I must say that I'm also struggling with this @ the moment.
Just remember to add the "Admin" user to your "Editor" (or else) group.
So Admin username is attached to all your user groups.
This is required to allow Admin user to have all the permissions that have been given to the particular groups.

Did you just delete all the DB entries in the table or edited contents?

I use TV for these images, yes.
I already added the media source to the TV.

ACL: Did that.

Okay at least I could restore a status where access is set to all on the whole filesystem after deleting DB entries, re-attach etc.
This is better than nothing…

But still not sure how Media sources should work in detail. RTFM is missing real examples, too. And i can't write without understanding the system.

I guess the Media Source as a new feature still has bugs here and there.
Let's hope it'll fixed soon.

For now on, I don't set any permission for all Media Sources.

Another "gotcha" bug fix I found, if in any case you want to set the media source for a TV, but the drop down menu won't select your correct selection, try to select another list item first.
You'll see it works.
After that, select the correct one.

Anselm, can you report a bug on the media sources docs and what you'd like to see at bugs.modx.com? 2.2.1 is being worked on and these issues are being resolved as they arise. Media sources is powerful but they are a new feature and even in our RC period, didn't get as much of a workout as they have now.

Rico, can you make sure you're updating or filing reports of issues and solutions you find to bugs?

Hi Jay, already set up a docs-bug a few hours before.

If I find consistency in misbehavior I'll surely file a bug for Media Sources, too.

I have make 10s today, and they are mostly about Media Sources and ACL.
