    Hi !

I have recently face a case where I should share the assets between different web access.
As long as the solution to point to a modx install by copying the index, config.core and htaccess files is pretty simple (especially when you get help from experts like Patrick Rice at Skytoaster and Mark Hamstra, our dutch friend...), the problem lies down to accessing the assets directory on a remote location.

One solution was to copy the assets directory, but with problems when updating it...

I found an effective solution by addind a symbolic link (my server is linux) from the web directory to the other web directory (ln -s /mypathtotheassets/assets assets).

But there is still some issues with the cache.

So I wondered if the was some other long term viable solutions.

One could be to give the path to the assets as the path to the core is given in config.core.
Another one may be using the new media sources from revision 2.2 as if the assets was remote.

I am looking for some advice on this, because the case may happen to all those who have multiple access to the same site for exemple https and http that lay in different web directories thanks to plesk.

    Thanks.

    Philippe
