I found the Google calendar to be really simple to set up, although it’s big enough that you have to devote a page to it.
This is all the code it takes:
<code>
<iframe width="480" height="588" frameborder="0" src="
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=your%domain.com&title=SD54%20Calendar&chrome=NAVIGATION&bgcolor=%23f5fffa&height=588" style="border-width: 0pt;"></iframe>
</code>
You need to set it up at Google and you need to log on to Google to enter and edit events, but I got the one shown below up and displayed the way I wanted in less than 20 minutes.
One negative: The events don’t wrap in the cells so you have to click on the agenda tag to see them. I keep expecting Google to fix this. It’s been a known problem for a long time.
Another down side is that you don’t have the events in the MODx database for use with mailing, publication dates, etc. If you don’t need that, however, it’s a nice temporary fix for those needing a calendar. Also, you don’t have the code to hack.
For the time being, you can see a version of my Google calendar at:
(convert underlines to dots - it’s a test site that shouldn’t be indexed)
