Articles is without doubt one of the very best addon's I have seen for Modx and has caused the decision for me to finally move from Evolution to Revolution.

In evolution I used a flat URL design, so each page regardless of being a page or folder ended in .htm extension.

My current evolution site uses wordpress for the news / blog area and I am bringing it all into modx for the revolution version (the import function works like a treat) however I have a small issue with doing so.

As I am looking for a smooth transition from one to the other I have elected to keep the .htm extension for folders however this is presenting a problem with the "news" section, which is the container for my "articles" overview page.

As it's a folder it's using the .htm extension however whenever you click on Archives or a blog post's Username the URL becomes: "domain.com/news.htm2012/01" which presents a problem as far as a URL string goes (although it does actually work)

Ideally I'd like the "news" page to have a different folder extension, ie just news/ (as it is on my current site) or at least the path to be "domain.com/news/2012/01" but even "domain.com/newshtm2012/01" without the dot would be an improvement.

While standard folders have the ability to "freeze url" this seems to be missing for the articles folder.

Is there anyway to achieve this?

you may have had the opportunity to fix this issue already but this is directly related to Friendly URL settings in MODX itself.

      In your manager:

System >> System Settings >> [filter by area...] >> Friendly URL (16)

There are 16 settings that will manage how the url is displayed... Use Friendly Alias Path and Container suffix may be what you want to pay attention too. I am by no means an expert but if I understand your problem correctly this should point you in the right direction.

      Cheers!

Hi Shopcoop, thanks for the comment however this is specifically referring to the Articles snippet not general friendly URL setup.
