[SOLVED] Manager Fail isAuthenticated() on Fresh install

    Hello all,

    Just installed a fresh copy of Revo (2.2.0-pl2), ran a basic install, server meets all requirements; 64bit, Centos, latest & greatest PHP and MySQL, everything is readable and writable etc.. Install went smoothly.

    However.. I can't access the manager and fail with:

    PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function isAuthenticated() on a non-object in
    / --- /core/model/modx/modmanagerresponse.class.php on line 48

    Anyone have any ideas or could suggest something that could push me in right direction?

      That probably means that the MODX object is not being instantiated. Check the paths in the config.core.php files, especially the one in the Manager directory.

      The files are in these directories:


      § MODX root directory
      § /manager/
      § /connectors/
      § /setup/

        Hi Bob,

        Thanks for your help, I just checked those paths and they're all spot on. I dumped a quick test file in some of the directories and printed the output to check that the paths were *actually* getting generated properly (I'm at the point where I'm looking for anything weird).

        I'm running mod_security + suhosin, I checked their respective log files, and my php error log for any warnings or errors during the install and they're all clear.

        I cleared the install, built a new DB, and downloaded a new copy with wget, unzipped on the server and this time I chmod 777, on everything (just for test purposes, that's not how I'd run it) just to make sure that there wasn't any odd permission errrors that may have hosed the install.

        I check the /core/cache/logs/error.log and found:

        So I'm guessing this *is* a permissions issue right? The thing is I set the installer to create directories as 777 and files as 644. A second opinion would be really helpful. Cheers!

          I'm not sureabout suhosin, but most of the su family require 755 for directories.

            I have the same problem, i get the same error-message and error-log-entries as described above. Do you have any idea how to fix this problem?

              My first install was using 755 for directories and 644 for files. That should have worked.

              I did still think it might be a problem with suhosin, I ran a 3rd test install this morning with suhosin in simulation mode (effectively disabling it) and I had the same problem.

              I even installed it, set all user / group file perms to user/user 777 on all the installed files (about as loose and free as you can get) and then ran the installer again in upgrade mode to see if it will write files where it previously wasn't able to the first time around, and although the install/upgrade was successful the manager login still failed.

              My system log files are empty, I'm baffeled. I'm not new to modx, I've been using / installing it since the first public beta of evo years ago on dozens of system configurations. I've installed an older version of Revo before without issue.

              I bet it turns out to be something completely ridiculous... If anyone has any ideas on anything that's worth checking please post back here. [ed. note: mattisonthephone last edited this post 14 years, 9 months ago.]

                What system configuration are you running?
                PHP version, installed extensions / patches, etc.. Is it the latest release of Revo (2.2.0-pl2)?

                    Extensions: mysql.dll, mysqli.dll, mbstring.dll, gd2.dll, gettext.dll, curl.dll, xmlrpc.dll, openssl.dll, soap.dll, pdo_mysql.dll, ldap.dll
                    Revo-Version: 2.2.0-pl2

                    I think it's a problem with the server on which the modx-environment runs. I installed modx on my xampp-server and it ran perfectly. Now i copied the working installation to my webserver and updated the config.core.php-files and the config.inc.php-file and now the same error as before appears...

                      Did you use FTP to tranfer the files? That often causes a corrupted or missing file.

                      Is mod_security on?

                      It really does look like a file/directory permissions or ownership issue.
