I have MODx installed in http://foo/subfolder...on localhost development server.
I need to move the whole MODx install up one level such that the new site URL is http://foo, serving the same content, using the same database, etc.

Would I follow the same procedure as an upgrade/re-install??
Or could I just move all the files up one level and change the core config file and the database settings for where the site lives??

    Thank you, Tom

      Hi Tom,

Either of your solutions can work. The former (reinstalling) will be the easiest and most likely be the best solution. It's also a good excuse to upgrade to the newest version smiley

The latter can work, but you'll have to manually update settings, while the above does it automatically for you.

A third solution is to keep it where it is and do some .htaccess magic to point to the right place. I've done this before but I really wouldn't recommend it. Very finicky. Probably a tad slower too.

      Good luck!

        1. You have to change the paths on the config.core.php on the root folder, core/, and manager/
        2. You have to dump your SQL, look down to the most bottom part of the lines, find the "workspace", change the path, too
        3. Search and replace others too if any, inside the sql file.
