    Hi there, does anyone know of a way to have Template Variables appear (like the TV tab for example) in the quick create dialogue box?

      I don't think that's possible at this point. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's likely to be added any time soon because of the difficulty of rendering the TVs in a popup window.

        Thanks for the input Bob, it's a shame as I stumbled across the quick create just prior to you mentioning it in another thread of mine smiley

        I have found it so much easier to create a doc in the right template and so much faster too but it also means I have to go back in and add the TV values which sort of negates the "quick create" feature.

        Thanks again, ordered your book by the way, looking forward to reading it!

          Thanks for ordering the book. smiley

          You probably know about setting the TVs default value to @INHERIT, but in case you don't -- they will then inherit the value of the nearest ancestor that has a value for the TV. And you can set the TV's default value to

          @INHERIT something

          In that case, they'll get "something" if no ancestor has it set.

            I new the @INHERIT worked for Evo but not used it yet in Revolution, is it possible to use it to inherit a different TV for example @INHERIT pagetitle ?

              You could try this:

              @INHERIT [[*pagetitle]]

              You could also use output modifiers to just use the pagetitle is the TV is empty. Something like this:

              [[*TvName:default=`[[*pagetitle]]` ]]

                How is the nearest ancestor determined? Nearest MODX TV? Nearest custom TV?

                UPDATE: went out to the car to get your book. "The resource above it in the Resource tree." That's a doozy for me because then it means that if the TV isn't set in my current resource, it grabs it from the Resource directly above it, which means that I cannot sort Resources according to menuindex.

                A client wants Resources re-ordered, and so I have to go through each resource - anyone got time to plow through 500+ resources? 75+? - to find where the TV was set, correct? [ed. note: ultrasef last edited this post 14 years, 8 months ago.]

                  It looks at *ancestors* -- parent, grandparent, etc.. menuindex will have no effect on it.
