    Hi,

I've recently built a reasonable simple product catalogue with Revolution. I've got it set up so that each category and product is a resource, there's around 50 categories various levels deep and around 400 products.

One of the requirements is to have a product living within multiple categories, currently I've got them all set up in their primary category. I could physically duplicate a product resource via the Manager, but this isn't ideal as if the product content changes then it will need updating in multiple categories.

My category template so far simply consists of a getResources call to retrieve any children, this creates the category structure before leading to a product detail page.

Could I create a series of TV's to assign the multiple categories? How could I use getResources to call in both child resources and resources from other elsewhere with certain TV values? If this was possible I think I'd lose my tidy ordering functionality via the Manager, hmm.

Has anybody done something similar before, how have you handled it?

    Thanks in advance

One option would be to create a weblink for each resource you need to have in another category.

        Hi Bob, great book!

I've thought about doing that but I'm using breadcrumbs which won't match the category structure, instead it will just link through to the primary resource I believe?

In essence if a product was in 4 different categories it would be accessible via 4 different URL's as the URL mimics the category structure. I know this could be duplicate content but I may investigate dropping in a canonical URL reference.

In that case symlinks might work better.
