2.2 install error: Fatal error: Call to a member function render() on a non-object in welcome.class.php

    EDIT: NEVERMIND, the 2.2.0 download on modx.com looks to be fully functional.

    Working on localhost -- testing v2.2.0 release locally. I'm getting this error immediately after a non-advanced install, and initial login:
    Fatal error: Call to a member function render() on a non-object in C:\Apache2.2\htdocs\manager\controllers\default\welcome.class.php on line 65

    I get the error no matter if I update 2.2 over a fresh, clean install of 2.1.5, OR when I try to install 2.2 alone. Always the same error.

    windows xp x64
    apache 2.2
    php v 5.3.8
    mysql 5.5.18
    (not a wamp install, each individually)

    previously 2.1.5 was working fine for me on the same configuration. I also notice that on github, ver 2.2, '/core/packages' directory is empty without a core.transport.zip file, if that might be the problem or related.
