    Hi,

I am looking to convert my rather large website from Evolution to the magnificent Revolution (Viva La Revolution) however I am having a few niggles with this process.

One of the issues is that I currently use a flat url system with each URL ending in .htm regardless of being a folder or not and I tried the same in the revolution install (latest version 2.20-pl2).

All was well until I installed the shiny new Articles Snippet, as this wants to use Full URL structures which doesn't work with my .htm folder suffix, I end up with URL's like this:

    domain.com/news.htmauthor/admin

    and

    domain.com/news.htm2012/01

now while these URL's do actually seem to work they aren't exactly ideal.

Is there any way to change this so that either the URL's are flat

    (ie domain.com/author/admin.htm) or (domain.com/author/admin)

or to rewrite this news folder URL from news.htm to news/ while still retaining the .htm suffix for all the other folders on the website.

Any help would be very much appreciated and likely result in a vast amount of positive karma smiley

      Anyone?

I've thought of perhaps getting the "news" folder in Articles to be renamed from news.htm to news/ but can't seem to find a way of getting this to work.

Any help would be really appreciated as it's the only thing that's holding me back now from the evolution to revolution move.

If I'm understanding you and if you're using the current version of Revolution, it might work to set the container_suffix system setting to / . I'm not sure what Articles would do with that, but you could also manually set the URI of the container pages and freeze the URL for each one if necessary.

The best solution is just to get rid of the .htm/html suffix altogether, but of course that might have SEO implications if the site has been up for a while.

          Hi Bob,

thank you for the assistance and kudos for the Modx Book, I am going to pick up a copy from Amazon as soon as I can smiley

I was trying to find a way of doing this without having to set the container_suffix to / if possible as it means every time I create a new resource I have to amend the URL and "freeze it" - it would be a lot easier if I could find a way of using .htm as the folder suffix and just freezing the Articles container but no idea how I could do this.

Essentially this is also to try and use the most effective SEO too - the thought of the few thousand pages changing from .htm to / isn't good. There is also the fact that although it's only a very minor consideration having a suffix rather than forward slash does have a small SEO benefit too.

I may just grin and bear it for now, the revolution development is going to take a while as Provisioner doesn't work in 2.2 and I have a few thousand pages to manually transfer, at least half of which have around 10 to 15 TV's.
