FURL's and Redirects to dynamic links

Good Morning and Happy New Year,

We are finally doing our own corporate site, but we have included in our portfolio document tagging. Overall this function works great, it does exactly what we need however....

We want to utilise the site in various marketing ways, for example we might have a url that is

mysite.com/education

but what we want it to do is route to

mysite.com/tag-results?tags=Education

Im not a HTAccess expert in any sense so can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I found a website that generates the regex (http://www.generateit.net/mod-rewrite/), and its given me

RewriteRule ^([^/]*)$ /tag-results?tags=$1&start=0 [L]

However this causes a 500 Internal Server Error - clearly theres something a miss but im not sure what yet

EDIT:

changing it to: RewriteRule ^education /tag-results?tags=Education&start=0 [L] sort of gives the desired effect but breaks the rest of the sites formatting as it removes the css linkage [ed. note: Tyreal2012 last edited this post 14 years, 8 months ago.]
