    MODX Revolution 2.1.3-pl (traditional)

Following Bob's Tutorial for hiding the Top Menu Items in the Manager: http://bobsguides.com/hiding-top-menu-items-in-the-manager.html

Everything works great until I get to hiding the Security menu from my Editors Group. There is already a permission in the field for that item so I put my permission in after the existing one so it looks like this.

    access_permissions,see_reports_menu

After I save this, clear the site cache, then flush permissions, the security menu item disappears. So as admin, I can no longer see that menu item. Logging out and back in has no effect. I have to go back to the system menu--actions to remove that permission to restore the Security menu for me (admin).

The other items are properly hidden for the editors but are visible to me.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The only difference I can see is that item already has an item in the permissions field.

Still trying to wrap my head around this whole security thing. Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

This is probably the simplest way to handle that:

      * Create a new policy template with just that permission (SeeReportsTemplate).

      * Create a policy based on that template (SeeReports)

      * Create a new Context Access ACL entry for the Administrator group with:

      role: Super User
      policy: SeeReports
      context: mgr
