Howdy, I am trying to upgrade a site to 2.2 and the option to upgrade is greyed out. I have copied the config.inc.php into the setup/includes directory and made it writable. Is there anything I am missing?
Thanks for your time!

If you're upgrading, you should already have a config.inc.php in the core/config directory. It has to be there for MODX to know that you're upgrading. And the path in the /setup copy of config.core.php may have to point to the core location -- I'm not sure.
BTW, don't proceed unless you can check upgrade -- otherwise you may lose your content.

Ok here is the steps I extracted the 2.2.0 rc3 to a folder in the root. I copied the existing config.inc.php into the /modx-2.2.0-rc3/setup/includes directory made it writable and tried to run the setup but I still dont get the option for an upgrade. Thanks for the assist Bob and great book by the way.

I'm confused. If you are upgrading, there should already be a core/config/config.inc.php file. If it exists, the one in the setup/includes directory should be ignored.
Make sure the four config.core.php files all contain the correct path to the core:
§ MODX root directory
§ /manager/
§ /connectors/
§ /setup/includes/
Typically, these are the steps you take:
1. Backup
2. Overwrite all MODX files with the contents from the downloaded package
3. Go to site.com/setup and follow the steps.
You do *not* copy the config.inc.php to setup/includes (where did you get that from?), but leave it where it is: core/config/config.inc.php.

And if you're updating from before 2.2 make sure you read

Ok, sorry for not being clear I was not overwriting the directories so I will try that now. Thanks to you both!
