Articles: How to Mess It Up

This could be a bug report, but here's how I messed up Articles:

Instead of Importing my existing MODX Blog, I moved them into the Articles Container, where they briefly showed up and then disappeared without showing up in the Articles List. It did show up in the Front End, which forced me to unpublish the "rogue" blog entry manually via PHPMyAdmin.

I created a new entry and post-dated it to match the unpublished post that was in another container. Interestingly enough, my main site does not want to acknowledge that post-dated entry, nor the new entry. Wayfinder doesn't seem interested in adding new Articles to the main menu, just the ones that I imported over.

I have a feeling that if I add the new article to the old Blog container, that Wayfinder will render that entry as well...

Here's how to make Articles better:
1) Allow my TVs to show up in the Article Options.
2) Maybe a Articles Dashboard after installing it will stop me from messing up my blog.

I love Articles. It shows me what MODX 2.2 Is very capable of.

I think if you keep in mind that Articles is a custom resource type and won't behave like default resources it will help prevent this sort of thing. It has to have its own store of metadata on its articles to know they exist.

It's much the same as wondering why just moving a flat .html file into your MODx installation directory won't let you use that page. MODx has to have its own metadata referring to that .html file as a static resource before it can know it exists.

Indeed. Custom resource types, Custom manager pages, Custom manager forms along with static (files are used instead of database storage) everything options makes Revo extremely flexible.
