I've been trying out 2.2.0 for a pet project... I had some problems with Form Customization a while back that I think might be related to what I'm seeing now:
I have only 2 user groups defined (verified this in MySQL): that's all you can see when you view the access controls. However, when I created a new system setting that uses a "User Group" input type, it's showing *5* user groups: the 2 I know about, and 3 that I deleted when cleaning up from the Form Customization debacle. I've updated this site with the various release candidates and I've cleared the cache etc... but those "ghost" user groups are still showing up.
Where is the connector that powers that dropdown getting its data? This seems mostly harmless right now, but I'm worried if the ship starts "taking on water". Any ideas?

That really sounds like a cache issue. Have you tried deleting all the files in core/cache and clearing your browser cache and cookies?

Maddeningly, yes, I've nuked the entire cache directory via rm -rf. This issue has persisted across several updates. I've grep'd for the text I've seen, and come up empty handed, so I suspect this data is still in the database somewhere.
Did you check both modx_document_groups and modx_documentgroup_names?

Both empty. But modx_membergroup_names contains the info... but why isn't that showing up in the GUI? And maybe I'm going senile, but I could have sworn I deleted those extra names from the database...
Sorry, I was thinking resource groups. Have you looked at modx_membergroups? A group may not be shown in some situations if there's no entries there for it.
