Well I think for the first time in quite a while I need help. I'm starting a new project and I'm trying to decide between the two versions, Revolution and Evolution. I've got around 20 sites in Evolution. Here is something similar to the project I'm getting ready to start.

    http://estatesales.org/

Very simple. Someone comes to search for a estate sale. If you want to list your estate sale you sign up/login, fill out a form, and pay. The other part is maintaining/updating the static pages. As far as the other things, need to send friendly reminders to estate listers that their membership is getting ready to expire time to renew. The admin needs to login to the site and update static pages, send reminders, check for bounced mail, etc. Do I write a whole admin area? My end user will know nothing about installing packages, namespaces, etc.

For the first time in a long while I've thought about using a different solution.

Another comment, when I went to the main ModX site and looked at extras and saw very few listed for either version. What happened there? I see Administration 85? I see maybe three listed for Revolution and one for Evolution. Where are the other 82?

    Thanks for your help.

If you go here: http://modx.com/extras, you should see over 200 extras on the Revolution tab and over 500 extras on the Evolution tab.

It's difficult to advise someone on selecting between Evo or Revo. I think the Manager in Revolution is easier to customize, but I'm not sure everyone would agree. Evolution permissions are less powerful, but much easier to learn. And, there are fewer extras for Revolution, though most of the important ones are now available. I don't think there is a front-end gallery management extra yet for Revolution, but I could be wrong.

Thanks. I did go to http://modx.com/extras for the life of me I still don't see all the extras. I'm using Safari although that shouldn't matter. Hmmm. still can't make a decision.

Many extras seem to be missing from the Evolution tab on the MODX website. A blank search returned only 58 of them I just filed a bug report for this.

went to download the WebLoginPE 1.3.1-dev and get a Not Found message? What's up with that? and the Forum when I login almost everything is greyed out? again, why? and the dates in the posting, 4 months and 6 hours ago. Again, why? My brain know what 22 Sept, 2011 is it doesn't know 6 months and 2 hours. I have been using Modx for several years and I don't see many of the changes being for the better. I know people don't want to hear that. Soon you'll be battling it out with Plone for last place. I'm guessing it's people like me who are your community. I've done the other CMS's. I also stopped using them for a reason.
