Hi. I didn't like the fact I had to manually copy and then edit two config files (with repetition) and then build in order to get the latest MODX from the Git repo setup.

There also seemed to be a slight error with the docs(rtfm) for this as it tells you to copy and edit "_build/build.sample.properties to _build/build.properties" when in fact this seems to really be _build/build.properties.sample.php to _build/build.properties.php

In order to make this process (hopefully) easier I have created a simple shell script:

For now it only works with MySQL but it could be easily tweaked to work with SQL Server and to support changing the default charset.

Hope this comes in handy for someone.

Thanks for that! By the way, you might want to look into 2.2's CLI installations. You could create a bash script to automatically upgrade MODX now as well:

Cheers. I missed the CLI stuff somehow until someone on IRC linked me to a Gist of yours yesterday.

It looks pretty cool / comprehensive.

I wonder if it's possible / worthwhile to pull a bunch of these into a Makefile or similar so that people could call a particular task e.g. 'make install', 'make upgrade', 'make backup' etc. A lot of Ruby projects do this sort of thing with Rake tasks. Just a thought.
