I am using wampserver and I downloaded MODX and put the folders in a folder on the www.directory in wampserver I can go to administrator but when I click on my project I get the 503 error, site temporarily unavailable

You installed MODx? If you just go to mydomain.com before installing it will show that error. If that's the case, you need to go go mydomain.com/setup to install MODx.
I want to run MODx on my computer I am using wampserver as server. Or maybe I am misunderstanding you.
I dd go to mydomain.com and it did not show that error

Yes. What I am saying is that after you put the MODx files in your wampserver, you have to go to /setup and run the setup program.
I typed in localhost/myfoldername in wampserver and then I typed in /setup and it work. I had watched a video on all of this and there is no indication of having to type in the setup on the address bar.
