Hi - I’ve recently installed Modx on two of my client’s sites, and in both cases had the same problem occur with the QuickEdit toolbar in IE.

After installing Modx and setting up the templates and a few pages, all worked fine with QuickEdit, even in IE. But after making some changes to some plugins and snippets, the QuickEdit toolbar stopped working in all version of IE that I tested it in - 5.5, 6 and 7. It continues to work fine in FF. The problem is that the toolbar always appears expanded, there’s a gap in between the "quickedit" and menu items at the top of the toolbar, and none of the menu items work. I’ve attached a screenshot showing what the toolbar looks like.

I’ve tried the CSS fix from this thread: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=37c8e9064cf99697ecfc4cd9e393c514&/topic,10200.msg70442.html, but it hasn’t fixed the problem I’m having. I’m not getting any js errors, so I don’t think its the problem that’s discussed in this thread: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,12782.msg87572.html#msg87572.

The only plugin/snippet changes I’ve made to both sites have been to upgrade Ditto to version 2.01, and make some changes to the buttons in TinyMCE in the plugin’s configuration tab. Although I can’t imagine that either of these changes could have caused the problem, I have returned both TinyMCE and Ditto to the install configurations, but the problem with the QuickEdit toolbar continues.

Web Server: PHP Version 4.4.6, Apache
    Database: MySQL 4.0.27
    MODx 0.9.5

The deadlines for both these projects are fast approaching and I’m totally baffled as to what could be causing the problem. Does anybody have any ideas? Any suggestions at all would be very much appreciated! Thanks.

First try to create an empty document and assig the standard template to it (if you have deleted it, take a minimal template). Then look if QE works again. If yes, there is a conflict with some snippets, plugins or whatever. If it works not... hm. Are the IEs on one machine? Or did you try different IEs on different PCs?

Thanks for the reply MadeMyDay! I created an empty document and set it to use the minimal template - and the QuickEdit toolbar is now working again! So I guess there’s a conflict. As the only plugin/snippet changes I made to the second client’s site were upgrading Ditto and removing some TinyMCE buttons, it must be one of those. I had thought I’d returned both of those to the install state, but I must have missed something. I’ll take another look over everything.

If there’s anything you can think of in either Ditto or the TinyMCE configuration which might be causing a conflict, please let me know. Thanks once again for your help smiley
