Hi, I have 2 easy questions.
Originally I wanted to look into a newsletter extra for Revo and, since DitsNews is the only one I found, I decided that I didn't want to download more extras to make it work and have to program a lot of things for each of them. Plus DitsNews does't work in my revo site, it does not create groups so I'd get stuck anywaw. Therefor, I thought... maybe if I can simply subscribe people to a certain user group, then I will just have to dump that list of users (maybe in a Sql or CSV format) and then import it into an external mailer. SO if I create a group named "mailinglist" now the tasks are:
    1. create a form (probably the default Modx Subscribe form with confirmation email and so on) with name/surname and email and have all these activated users inserted into the 'mailinglist' group.
    2. once I have those users email records in the DB, I will need a userfriendly plugin to dump those data into an excel-like format (CSV would be fine) because my customer will have to do it himself and I cannot ask him to go into the database exporting tables.

Seems like very simple things to do, but, from my experience, Modx Revo is great in tasks that are way complicated on other CMS and unfortunately not so immediate with the easy ones.

Thanx in advance for any suggestion.

    Alby

You might look at EmailResource. It doesn't have bulk emailing yet, (hopefully that will come soon), but there's a place to add the code for that and doing so might be easier than what you're planning.

You would want to develop a way to get the rendered output of a resource with inline CSS, and that part is done for you in EmailResource.
