    Hi.

All I did was change a text value in a template variable! When I saved the document all styling was removed from thecontrol panel, and everything was messed up. When I went to the front-end I got the message "ERROR: Too many forward attempts!"

I logged out, and tried logging in, but I got a message about too many failed logins. I found this thread:

    https://forums.modx.com/index.php?topic=275.0

This allows me to login into the backend, but as I said, most of it is missing, and what is there is unstyled. If I logout and login again, I get the too may attemps message again, and have to change the DB field in order to get back in again.

    This is my site:

    http://www.jeremypeters.co.uk/

    Evolution 1.0.0

    Apache version 2.2.19
    PHP version 5.2.17
    MySQL version 5.1.56-log

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do hope you have been keeping regular backups. This sounds like something got corrupted. You can try emptying the cache files in assets/cache; you can delete the files for the individual pages and empty the site cache file. Go to your database management application (phpMyAdmin ?) and check the tables to see if they are OK and try to repair them if they need it.

Thanks for your help Susan - everything is back to how it was now. Luckily I had backed up the site a couple of days ago - I just replaced the files in the cache directory with those from my backup, and cleared the cache from the manager.

I strongly recommend upgrading to 1.0.5. It fixes a few security issues that have come up over the years since 1.0 was released.
