501 Error on home page for no apparent reason

Version: 2.0.4-pl2

My website was fully working and everything was fine for weeks, then suddenly visitors got a 501 error on the home page.

Nothing had been done to the site that could have caused the error.

Editing the home page content and re-saving cured the 501 error and everything was fine...

But then it happened again a couple of days later, again for no reason, and again editing the home page content cured the problem.

This has now happened a few times. Will upgrading to the latest ModX version cure this? Is it a known problem?

Yes upgrade; it was a known issue in 2.0.x, though typically it causes 500 errors because of cache file corruption from multiple threads writing to the cache files simultaneously.
