Ok this is a real newbie question. I am trying to grasp around modx on how to do this.

I have a simple homepage that lists concert listings with the follwing pieces of data:

image, concert title, bands, locations, ticket info.

I am thinking of using invisible blog entries. Is there a better way with Modx? My other options is to make this a TV with each concert representing a document (hidden of course) and using ditto to display the docs. There are never going to be hundreds of concerts. We are talking 10 concerts at the most and i need to do this quickly.

If i wanted to use the SQL database:

Is there a way in modx for each @Select to generate a new snippet of HTML code?
    -- concert 1 --
    -- concert 2 --
    etc...

    Can TV’s do this dynamically?

or is this something that i will end up writting a chunk of PHP to do a custom query with and insert a snippet? I want to make this updatable by the promoter without me having to do anything special? is there a form plugin to do updates to DB tables? And deletes?

You might look into NewsManager and NewsEditor snippets.

I am using them on my site to allow for custom text entries, like articles, etc. You could easily change the titles of the fields and have them displayed this way.

Both are together, pretty easy to use, and are in the repository.

I think the thing that i liked about using TVs and controlling thing that way for now. Is the idea of the form when they create the new page and not having to worry about snippets. even if what i have are hidden pages and ditto just pulling data off those pages. They want a consitant look across the pages.

The thing that was cool about the TVs also was that when they create a new page of the concert category.. They just fill out a hand full of fields.

I understand the consistency part. I am using NewsManager and NewsEditor on my site to allow front end editing of the photo gallery. When one of my users log in and go to the create gallery page, they see a simple form they fill out the details, and then save it. The gallery is saved at that point.

For the consistency, On the back end it is all styled with CSS and each Gallery shows up the same.

You can see it here: http://www.unionky911.org and go to the Gallery page. I am using Ditto also to pull the quick gallery shots too.

Good luck in whichever way you try out!
