I’m implementing a protected download area as one aspect of a website. I used the combination FileDownloadPlugin and FileDownloadFolder (hope I actually got the names right) but the problem lies in the fact that if someone knows the full url to the files, they can be downloaded. I’d have to add Apache’s own authentication into the mix.
Adding Apache auth is another problem in its entirety. The target users are not tech-savvy and are not able to do command line stuff, however there should be a way for them to change the password (single account is enough in this case.) So I’m thinking - either there is a whole another solution within MODx, or there is a way to manage htpasswd from MODx.
Any input is very much appreciated. And the question lies: how should I continue?
