SyntaxHighlighter released

SyntaxHighlighter, based on Alex Gorbatchev's great JS syntax highlighter will highlight almost any kind of code.

The package contains both plugin and snippet versions of the code.

Hi Bob - will try this one out. I've been using CodeMirror but it really annoys me the way it tries to strip out my indents all the time. Does that happen with SyntaxHighlighter or does it purely highlight the code?

Ah, is it for front-end display? Might want to add a little note on the package description, I was hoping it was for the manager

I'll have to play with using it in the back end when I get a chance. I doubt if it will work.

Just installed it, and it works great. I'm using it for a set of Articles ... well, articles, using the snippet in the article template. What I was wondering is if there is a way to set up a property set for the snippet to configure the javascript application, instead of having to list all those attributes in the pre tags. Something like

Susan, if you mean the list of brushes, yes a property set would be perfect.

Create the property set on the SyntaxHightlighter Create/Edit snippet page, call it articles and just add the one property: brushes with the comma-separated list of brushes.

You'll still need to specify the brush you want for each section in the pre tags.

There are a lot of other SyntaxHighlighter.defaults settings that can be configured in the parameters as well, not to mention specifying the theme.

Well, tried to create a new brush file but couldn't get it to register ("can't find brush modx"), so I added a line to the xml brush in the section for regular expressions:



This puts all Revo tags in red - except when it's the attribute of an HTML tag, in which case the style for HTML tag attributes overrides the MODx tag style. http://dev.sottwell.com/index.php?id=6

Somebody more versed in regular expressions than I am could adjust this for Evo, or even to just highlight the tags themselves. [ed. note: sottwell last edited this post 14 years, 8 months ago.]

There may be a regex in the Evo parser that you could use.
