Manager - custom button in resource edit screen?

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to add a button to the resource editing screen in Revo. I would like to be able to trigger a script that makes some custom db entries on the press of a button, ideally ajax driven. For that, I'd like to add a button for users in the standard resource edit screen. I have had a look at customising the manager, but that seems to only talk about adding/removing existing elements. Can it be done without hacking the core?
