phpThumb generating 11gb of website traffic.

We've just been analysing our webserver, and noticed that one of our sites is generating per month 11gb of traffic, after looking at the logs on the said website we found that image.php is the single most item generating that amount of traffic.

Now, there are alot of images on the site but surely not enough to be generating that quantity of traffic. Can anyone advise on steps to reduce this as its a new one on me.

For 353,898 hits that seems about right to me.

If you don't get that much traffic to your site then you'll need to check your server logs and find out who is sucking all your bandwidth...

If you don't have phpthumb locked down others could be passing image processing through your server. It's not uncommon for hot-linking to come into play as well.

If you want to share other traffic stats for the site we can better guess if it's "normal" traffic on the site. If you aren't caching images that could be affecting things as well.

EDIT: after recieving the anaytics from the client - their monthly visits for the site was 31,686 with 50,925 page views.
