I have uploaded the rc2 tar file to the server, then by ssh unpacked it...
keeping permissions (why not? maybe there is a reason for that permissions, so lets go)...
    then, my server screams:

[2007-04-18 00:38:04]: error: directory is writable by others: (/home/user/public_html/install)
[2007-04-18 00:37:20]: error: directory is writable by others: (/home/user/public_html/manager/includes)
[2007-04-18 00:47:20]: error: file is writable by others: (/home/user/public_html/manager/includes/session_keepalive.php)
[2007-04-18 00:52:36]: error: file is writable by others: (/home/user/public_html/install/index.php)

giving me a nice error 500

wich is the idea of use that permissions on that files/directories?

do you know wich other files I need to make it not 775 in order to have a modx working right?

    regards,
    luciano

On most servers, those directories and files must be world-writable. It all depends on your server configuration. Just set the permissions to make your server happy.

well, the first time I decompressed the tar file using midnight commander... and I have those sever messages

but then, I decompressed it using tar -xzvf... and the files/directory permissions where not the same, and all is working without server messages...

is midnight commander inventing file permissions?
or tar -xzvf untar all using its own "normal" permissions?

pd: wow, modx is eating almost 16mb of server space... that said du -h --max-depth=1 ...
