Apologies if this is a dumb question, but it is from a designer rather than a developer. My knowledge of cookies is non-existent.
My client (whom I have built a Modx site for) has requested a list of all the cookies their site puts on a user's computer, so they can work out how to approach resolving the new code of practice about informing users of cookies. It's not something I'd thought about before.
Apart from the Google Analytics and other thord party stuff, it seems that Modx installs one cookie, usually a series of numbers like XX0xxx00x00x0x0 - can anyone tell me what that is, why it's there and what data sits in it.
And is that the only cookie installed. By user I mean a web user, not a manager.
Thanks for any help
Ben
If you are referring to Evolution, that pair of numbers is the session_name => session_id.
Have a look in manager/includes/config.inc.php to see the details where the cookie is set.
Thanks.
Have looked there and as far as I can tell it checks to see if the viewer is also registered as a manager or a web user, which would make sense.
