    Hi all.

    I'm trying to get the thumbs in the Modx Browser to show but for the life of me it just ain't working.

    Here's what I've tried:

    - I've contacted my host and I have Image Magick installed correctly

    - My phpthumb setting: php_thumb_allow_src_above_docroot is set to Yes

    - My host provided the following paths to Image Magick: /usr/bin/convert and /usr/bin/mogrify so I've tried both of them in phpthumb_imagemagick_path (with no success)

    - I have the latest installment of PHP on my server

    Is there something else I should look into?

    The only other relevant thing I can think of is that Image Magick is installed on my VPS, so is there a different configuration needed?

    Hope somebody can help, I would really like to get this working.

    Cheers, and thanks in advance.

      Hello,

      What do you get in the error log?

        Thanks for the reply AMDbuilder, it's actually not showing any errors in the log at all.

        It's just not showing the thumbs, and not displaying them in the front.

        What I'm trying to do is this:

        http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/getResources.Category+Index+Page+with+Thumbnails

        So when I try to add an image to the resource via TV, the browser won't show the thumbs and won't bind the image to the resource either.

        In the front end I see the getResource index page perfectly fine, just without image.

        Oh, I'm using MODX Revolution 2.1.3-pl (traditional)

          Did you check the MODX Error Log in the manager or looking for them in the web directory? Who is the hosting provider? What if any control panel is installed? What is your getResource call?

            I'm hosting with hostv.com (I believe the same as cirtex), it's a VPS.

            cPanel / VZ
            Linux OS: Centos 32/64 bit

            I checked the log in Reports > Error Log (not showing any errors) I cleared the log then went through the steps to show the thumbs a few times and nothing.

            I'm going through this rtfm guide, step by step: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/getResources.Category+Index+Page+with+Thumbnails

            Here are my calls:

            list-docs-thumb chunk:
            <div class="list-docs thumb grid">
             [[!getResources?
                &parents=`[[*id]]`
                 &tpl=`list-docs-thumb-tpl`
                &limit=`100`
                &sortdir=`ASC`
                &includeTVs=`1`
                &includeContent=`1`
                &depth=`0`
                &sortby=`menuindex`
                ]]
            </div><!-- eof list-docs -->

            list-docs-thumb-tpl chunk:
            <div class="list-item column span-6">
                  <h2>[[+pagetitle]]</h2>
                     <a href="[[~[[+id]]]]" title="[[+pagetitle]]">
                     <img src="[[+tv.page-thumb:phpthumbof=`w=153&h=200&zc=1`]]" alt="[[+pagetitle]]" />
                     </a>
                <p>[[+introtext]]</p>
            </div>  <!-- eof item -->

            My TV is named page-thumbnail, with:
            Input: image
            Output: default

            It actually works as intended and shows an index of any children the resource may have, the only problem seems to be with MODXbrowser.

            It doesn't show the thumbnails, which wouldn't really bother me at all as long as it would bind the image to to the resource, which it doesn't do either.

            Thanks for the help, I just can't find any more information about this in the forums, I mean I already did what was mentioned in these posts.

            https://forums.modx.com/index.php?topic=57980.0
            https://forums.modx.com/thread/70829/resources-browser-not-showing-images-thumbnails
            https://forums.modx.com/thread/45688/solved-image-browser-showing-folders-but-not-files

            And still nothing sad

            I might try upgrading to MODX Revolution 2.1.5-pl, and see if that works, but it seems more to me that I'm probably just missing some setting or something along those lines.

            Thanks again AMDbuilder.

              Hmm I upgraded from 2.1.3 to 2.1.5 in hopes it would probably help, but no cookie.

              Does anybody know what I might be missing? I've gone over every step so many times I'm going nuts smiley

              Thanks.

                Do we need the IMagick PHP Extension besides Image Magick to make this work?

                Sorry to drag this along, just can't figure it out sad

                  Hello,

                  You don't need imagemagick in order to use phpthumb (which generates those thumbnails), however it does tend to be a little more efficient than GD, so I would recommend it. You may want to check that it is registered for use with php.

                  Do you know what version of PHP is installed on the server and how it is configured? Based on the information thus far this sounds more like a server configuration issue than a MODX issue.

                  If you would like we can discuss things more via email or skype, see if we can track this down faster.

                    Sorry to butt in, and thanks for your help so far AMDbuilder, but I have the exact same problem.

                    I think i've narrowed the cause down to the website being in a subdirectory, but it must also be something related to server configuration OR not updating a setting correctly when moving a website, because:

                    - i have a modx 2.1.5 on my local develpment server that runs from a subdirectory, and the file browser works fine;
                    - same website, uploaded to our VPS for the client to provide feedback on - still in a subdirectory (even named the same as the dev. subdirectory) - file manager does not work, everything else works perfectly.
                    - but if i look at the website installed in the root of the same VPS (version 2.0.8 though) - the file manager works just fine.

                    My phpthumb setting: php_thumb_allow_src_above_docroot is set to Yes

                    Any thoughts?

                      Hello Orthias,

                      Could you please check that all the paths are correct on the MODX install present on the VPS server. Also could you check the error_log in the manager and report any errors.

                      If there are a lot of errors, clear the log, then view a page that would trigger phpthumbof (such as the file manager).
