I've successfully installed Revolution 2.1.5 and can create new templates but can't save any any html content. If just type a word it saves and is fine but as soon as I add html coding it won't save. This applies to adding in a template or a resource. I also can't install any packages. Is the problem linked? How do I sort this? I have noticed when I look at the cpanel that the packages/core isn't attributed to me as a user but to Apache, is this the problem? Or in phpMyAdmin it does say no privileges under create new database, could this be it?
Running MySQL 5.0.90
PHP run as Apache module
I'm a newbie so not sure what other info you require.

The problem with templates is almost certainly mod_security:

It may or may not be causing the trouble with Package Manager. You won't know until you fix the mod_security problem.

Thanks, I've just tried all that and it didn't work, got down to IncludeFile snippet but it doesn't allow me to save a snippet. Do you think it's a setting on the server that might need changing?

Yes, I think you need to talk to your host about mod_security. There should be entries in the error log that tell them what needs to change.
Some hosts are good about changing mod_security settings and some are not. It's possible that you might have to find another host that's more congenial to MODX. Restrictive mod_security settings are often a sign of an ignorant and/or very lazy hosting service, IMO.
There's a good list here:
