Only ImageMagick for thumbnails? No another way?

I set phpthumbof.cache_path - (empty)
I set phpthumbof.cache_url - (empty)

this is what i have:
gallery.assets_path -/home1/siteuser/public_html/assets/components/gallery/
gallery.assets_url - /assets/components/gallery/
gallery.core_path - /home1/siteuser/public_html/core/components/gallery/
gallery.files_path - /home1/siteuser/public_html/assets/components/gallery/files/
gallery.files_url - /assets/components/gallery/files/
gallery.phpthumb_path - /home1/siteuser/public_html/assets/components/phpthumb/
gallery.phpthumb_url - /assets/components/phpthumb/

if i change gallery.core_path to this " /assets/components/gallery/ ", i cant open the Gallery in the Manager area.

HELP!???
