    Hello All,

I am an etomite convert, and found you accidently while going insane.

I’ve created a website for a client that now needs some user logins with specific user access to download files and see particular pages etc.
Converting the website to the template is no problem.
    I *think* sorting out the permissions/groups/users/documents isn’t a problem.

I’ve tried using extmembercheck membercheck weblogin etc on a template for a page within the site (not on the front page). But I’m at a loss as to which snippet/s are best for the task?

    I’ll explain the task:

    Website with static content.
One page requires login for users: group1, group2, updater
When the user logs in page redirects to specific page for user:
Group1 page shows data and downloads only available to that user
Group2 page shows data and downloads only available to that user
Updater page shows upload form to upload the file for group 1 and 2 to download - from front end only no backend access allowed!

After trying every snippet available in etomite and trying some of the snippets here and checking through the search queries, I thought I’d just ask and save myself another month.

    Please help!

    Thanks,
    Malissa

Weblogin + Membercheck (see the stuff in the support thread on that one for possibly newer code) should do the trick for you.

I would use the standard MODx webuser/webgroup permissions for allowing access to only certain pages on the website. See http://www.modxcms.com/web-users-web-groups.html for more information about this subject. FOr loggin in just use the standard login snippet that comes with MODx

You can use the FileDownload snippet (http://www.modxcms.com/FileDownload-502.html) on the private pages to let people of a specific webgroup download files. Also check out the FileDownload plugin that can be used together with the FileDownload plugin.

For uploading you can use the FileUpload snippet (http://www.modxcms.com/FileUpload-804.html). The Snippet displays a file upload form for the given webusergroups. So by assigning your webusers to the correct groups everything should work just fine.

          Hi,

I really need help with this!
I’m using Mitch’s suggestion. I believe everything is installed correctly.
I believe all web user groups and documents and permissions are OK.
Logging in to the front end just brings me back to the same page, no errors.
If you can help me please let me know what info you need and I’ll give to you.

          Regards,
          Malissa

Not sure, but this might be the parameter you are looking for:

            #	&loginhomeid - (Optional)
            # redirects the user to first authorized page in the list.
            # If no id was specified then the login home page id or
            # the current document id will be used

Also, just in case, make sure the weblogin snippet is called uncached ( [!WebLogin? ... !] )
