it has come up with MODx Parse Error and not showing the site or letting me get into the modx manager

Sounds like a corrupted cache file. Try clearing the cache file (if you're using Evo, that would be the siteCache.idx.php file), if you just empty the file MODx will rebuild it. The aliasLIsting array is taken from that file.
